Built Around the Idea That Women Deserve a Calm, Honest Space to Learn About Money
Back to HomeSahaja Began with a Simple Observation
A group of educators and community facilitators noticed that most money education content was written as though the reader already understood half the concepts — and rarely acknowledged the particular money situations women face at different life stages. There was no shortage of information, but very little of it felt welcoming or genuinely useful for everyday life.
Sahaja was founded in Kuala Lumpur to change that. The name itself — rooted in the idea of something that comes naturally — reflects the belief that understanding your own finances should not require a business degree or a thick skin. It should feel as natural as a conversation among friends who trust each other.
We opened our doors at Menara KEN TTDI and began running small circle sessions: structured enough to cover real material, relaxed enough that participants could ask the questions they had never felt comfortable asking elsewhere. Word spread quietly. The circles grew. Today, Sahaja runs three programme formats — a half-day workshop, a six-week programme, and a three-month foundations course — all centred on the same values: honest, calm, community-led financial education.
Our Mission
To make general financial education accessible, comfortable, and genuinely useful for women at every stage of life — delivered through community, conversation, and shared learning.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where every woman feels confident discussing and managing her own everyday money — not because she was pushed into it, but because she found a space that made it feel possible.
Our Values
Respect, patience, honesty, and inclusion. We do not assume prior knowledge. We do not sell products. We do not create urgency. We simply make space for learning.
The People Behind the Circles
Our facilitators come from education, community development, and adult learning backgrounds. They share one thing: a belief that this kind of space matters.
Nurul Ain
Programme Director
Nurul Ain has spent over a decade developing adult education programmes in the Klang Valley. She designed the circle-based format at Sahaja to ensure that every participant feels heard, not lectured.
Siti Rahimah
Lead Facilitator
With a background in community finance literacy and years of facilitating women's groups across Selangor, Siti brings warmth and practical clarity to every session she leads.
Lee Yee Ching
Curriculum & Content Lead
Yee Ching develops and reviews the learning materials for all three programmes, ensuring accuracy at a general educational level and making sure every resource is genuinely useful in everyday life.
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
These are not just principles on a wall. They shape every session, every piece of material, and every interaction with participants.
General Education Only
All content is general financial literacy at an educational level. We do not offer personalised financial advice or regulated services of any kind.
Participant Privacy
Personal information shared during enrolment or sessions is treated with discretion. We never share participant data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Regular Content Review
Programme materials are reviewed regularly to remain accurate and relevant. Our curriculum lead checks content against current general financial literacy standards.
Small Group Facilitation
We deliberately keep circle sizes small. This maintains the quality of discussion and ensures each participant has space to engage at her own level.
Trained Facilitators
Our facilitators hold backgrounds in education and community development. All undergo orientation with Sahaja's programme standards before leading any session.
Participant Feedback Loop
We collect and review feedback after every programme. Participant experience shapes how sessions evolve — what stays, what changes, and what new topics get added.
Financial Literacy as a Community Practice
At Sahaja, we understand that money is not just a numbers subject — it is woven into daily decisions, household planning, career choices, and long-term thinking. For many women, the difficulty is not a lack of effort or intelligence. It is a lack of a setting that feels right: one where you can ask basic questions without embarrassment, explore your own situation without pressure, and build understanding step by step with others who are on a similar path.
Our three programme formats address different levels of time and depth. The Money Confidence Circle Workshop is a standalone half-day experience — ideal for someone wanting a first step, a refresher, or a structured space to organise her thinking. The Women's Money Skills Programme moves deeper over six weeks, building habits and practical awareness through regular contact with a consistent learning circle. The Women's Finance Foundations Course is the most comprehensive option, spanning three months and covering a broad range of everyday financial topics at an educational level.
None of these programmes involve personalised financial advice. They are general educational experiences — the kind that help a person ask better questions, understand what she is reading, and feel more settled when dealing with everyday money matters. We believe this kind of foundational knowledge matters enormously, and that it is most effective when shared in a community setting where people learn from each other as well as from facilitators.
Sahaja is based in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. We are proud to serve women from across the Klang Valley and welcome enquiries from anyone who wants to learn more about what we offer.
